Age Calculator
Calculate your exact age in years, months, and days. Includes zodiac signs and next birthday countdown.
What Is an Age Calculator?
An age calculator works out exactly how old someone is by subtracting a birth date from a reference date and expressing the difference in years, months, and days. This version goes further than the headline number: it also reports how many days, weeks, and hours the person has lived in total, which Western zodiac sign the birth date falls under, which of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals the birth year belongs to, and how many days remain until the next birthday. Parents tracking a baby’s first year, students filling out forms that demand an exact age, and anyone curious about the trivia attached to their birth date will all find something useful here.
What this tool can do
- 🎂 Exact age in years, months, and days, measured from birth date to today or to any target date you pick.
- 🗓️ Total days, weeks, and hours lived since birth.
- ♈ Western zodiac sign with its symbol, derived from the birth month and day.
- 🐲 Chinese zodiac animal for the birth year.
- 🎈 Days left until the next birthday, with a special flag when today is the birthday.
- 🧮 Handles month-end and leap-year boundaries when counting the odd remaining days.
When would you use it
- 📝 Completing applications and forms that ask for age in years and days rather than a birth date alone.
- 🎁 Planning a milestone birthday with a precise countdown.
- 👶 Following a newborn’s development in weeks during the first twelve months.
- 🧧 Checking a new baby’s zodiac signs before choosing a name or a gift.
All computation happens on your device — birth dates never leave the browser, nothing is stored, and there is no account to create. One detail worth knowing: the age and totals follow the target date you choose, while the birthday countdown always reflects today’s date, so with a custom target date the countdown and the age are anchored to different days.
Date maths has sharp edges
- Calendar months differ in length, so “years + months + days” must be computed on the real calendar, not as a 30-day average — this page borrows the browser’s own calendar engine to do exactly that.
- February 29 birthdays are honoured: the next-birthday countdown falls back to February 28 in non-leap years.
- Zodiac boundaries sit mid-month and vary slightly between sources; results here use the most widely used date ranges.
Why not just your phone’s calculator
Subtracting birth year from current year feels easy — until a February 29 birthday, a different time zone, or a “what was my exact age on that contract date?” question shows up.
Exact age to the day
Your age is calculated in years, months, and days against today or any date you choose, plus the total days, weeks, and hours you have lived, for forms, insurance, or plain curiosity.
Two zodiac systems
The result carries both the Western zodiac sign of your birth date and the Chinese zodiac animal of your birth year, so one calculation answers both traditions.
Next birthday countdown
Days until your next birthday are counted automatically, including the zero-day case when today is the day, so no separate lookup for the anniversary.
Frequently asked questions
How is the exact age calculated?⌄
Subtracts birth date from target date, broken into years/months/days accounting for varying month lengths and leap years.
How accurate are the zodiac signs?⌄
Western zodiac uses birth month/day. Chinese zodiac uses 12-year animal cycle by birth year. Simplified solar method — lunar calendar births in Jan/Feb may differ.
What about leap years?⌄
Leap years are handled correctly. Feb 29 birthdays use Feb 28 in non-leap years. Total days count is always accurate.
Can I calculate age for past dates?⌄
Yes — enter any birth date and target date (past or present). Works for any date range, including historical dates.
